Ron specialises in all aspects of commercial property and in particular commercial property syndication and development projects. Ron is a founding partner of the firm and in recent years has concentrated on building a number of key client relationships. Through these relationships he has been able to assist clients with property and development projects and advise on a variety of joint venture structures. Ron has always practiced in Dunedin and although he has now moved to Arrowtown, he still travels extensively to meet the needs of his clients throughout the country. Ron enjoys spending time with his wife and family, riding his mountain bike and driving race cars.

Tess was appointed Mitchell Mackersy's Christchurch representative on her graduation in 1992, having previously been involved in education and retail. Since that time she has managed the Christchurch branch of the firm, joining Ron in partnership in 1999. Tess now advises on property, small business and Trust matters, particularly enjoying her business advisory work for the farming sector. She loves to spend her non-lawyer time over good food and wine with family and friends, or in the back country tramping, boating, camping and skiing. She is an avid collector of New Zealand art, music and poetry.

Sally joined the firm in November 2006 and brings to the firm a wealth of commercial law experience having worked both in large law firms and as in-house counsel in investment banks in the city of London. She specialises in intellectual property, advice on aspects of the Overseas Investment Act and commercial structuring. Sally spends her spare time enjoying books and music, good food, biking and skiing and providing a taxi service for her four children.

Angela joined the firm as a solicitor in 2002 and became a partner in July 2006. She has been practising since 1989, mostly in litigation (civil, commercial and estate matters) but since joining Mitchell Mackersy has developed a more general practice, still focused on dispute resolution but incorporating all aspects of property (including relationship property) and also estate administration. Angela has two children, who currently occupy most of her time away from work.

Anna Irving joined us toward the end of 2008 from Simpson Grierson in Wellington.

Anna advises on a wide variety of employment law matters including preventing, managing and resolving employment relationship problems, restructuring matters, the Holidays Act, health and safety legislation. Anna also assists clients with drafting employment agreements, independent contractor agreements and workplace policies.

Anna also regularly assists clients on a variety of commercial matters.

Marg Morrison

Marg joined Mitchell Mackersy in February 2010 to provide support for the Christchurch partners. Her previous role was in legal education with Community Law Canterbury. Marg’s particular interests lie in Estate Planning and Elder Law and her work includes wills, powers of attorney and trusts. She brings experience in employment law, dispute resolution and problem solving. Marg’s work for us also includes all aspects of property law (including relationship property) and specific support work on the partners’ commercial and contract files.

Jennifer Knox

Jennifer joined us in October 2009 as a solicitor and has a multi-faceted role with us. Jennifer brings her business administration expertise to our property management and development division, and also oversees our website, managing content and strategic development. Jennifer works primarily in the areas of conveyancing and Estates, and other personal client matters. She is a keen quilter and reader who also enjoys walking along the waterfront near her home.

Ronda has been working with us in Dunedin for 18 years. She has been involved in legal work of one kind or another since 1969, with a spot of travelling, getting married and mothering inserted in between. Prior to that Ronda served in the Royal New Zealand Navy. Ronda is responsible for our property management division and also manages some of our trusts. She is a member of Lions International, likes reading, gardening and walking/biking.

Susie is our Dunedin Receptionist and has worked in that role since 1999. Susie handles most of the Dunedin conveyancing work and is currently studying part-time for her qualification as a Registered Legal Executive. Susie is the mother of three sons and has recently joined the ranks as a new grandmother. Her interests are Ceroc dancing, gardening and reading.

Petra came to us in November 2006 and supports both Sally and Anna in a PA role and is renowned for her list making, dictaphone typing, monthly billing, office tidies, making documents look smart (known as "Petrafying"). She also acts as our office manager, keeping an eye on computer requirements, advertising, stationery and the like. In her spare time, Petra enjoys tramping, (especially in Nepal), dancing, reading and shoe shopping. She has three cats and is desperately trying not to turn into a cat lady.

Andrea joined the team in January 2008 on her return from 11 years in Sydney, where she worked in Public Relations. Coming home was an easy decision for Andrea; she wanted her primary-age children to live in a country where they could walk safely to school. Andrea is one of our Property Managers and is currently looking after 34 commercial properties between Auckland and Invercargill. "This position is so busy it is never boring; it takes multi-tasking to a whole new level."
